I am a culturally diverse person. Really! On the outside, one would see me as just a young, white girl. But on the inside, I'm much more than meets the eye.
"El libro de mormon" oh I love thee!
This is "The Book of Mormon" from my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I've been reading this book every day from before I can remember. It strengthens my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and it helps me remember God's commandments.
Just a few years ago have I started reading it in Spanish. I'm a Spanish Teaching Major at BYU and I love everything to do with Spanish: the language, the people, the culture, the countries, etc. I love it all. It's interesting because when I started reading it, it was really hard to understand because it was all in the "vosotros" form, which is a very formal "you" tense. It has taken me awhile to learn it, but I feel like I'm getting the hang of it and it is so much easier to understand.
Sometimes, I really wish I was latina.
I run. I run here and there and I have been since about elementary school. I've been blessed to be on the BYU XC and Track team and it has been one of the best experiences of my life. And it's not over yet! I am in my athletic junior year and I'll have one more year to compete and rise to my potential. I love to run and I love the girls on my team.
Running on a team such as this, one really comes to understand what is most important in life. Being one of the leaders on the team this year, I have really come to love these girls as my sisters and I would do anything to help them succeed. Coming to love others more than ourselves, I believe, is one of the most important things we can learn in this life because that's the example Our Brother, Jesus Christ, has given us.
This is my husband, Moydie, and I on our wedding day! We got married in Nauvoo, Illinois in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple on August 13, 2011. He is my best friend and we will be together forever having fun and acting like we're two. I love him so very much!
